This music selection (1977-2017) was compiled for the exhibit trampelpfadnomainroad at Städtische Galerie Traunstein.

Celebrating the art and music of Limpe Fuchs the exhibition gives insight into her ongoing creative adventures, from the early days of Anima up to her recent and critically acclaimed body of work. The exhibition opens on September 2nd and is open until September 28th at Städtische Galerie Traunstein / Germany. Limpe Fuchs is open to the idea to see the exhibition travel to other art spaces and galleries.

A nice catalogue with a CD of UNRELEASED music (from 1981-2017) will be released to celebrate the event.

Aus Anlass ihres 75. Geburtstages und eines wieder erstarkten Interesses für die künstlerischen Impulse der 1960er und 1970er Jahre findet in Traunstein mit der im alten Pfarrhof von Peterskirchen lebenden Klangkünstlerin Limpe Fuchs statt. Die Ausstellung hat einen retrospektiven Charakter und gibt Einblick in das gegenwärtige quicklebendige Schaffen der Künstlerin, die als Komponistin akustischer und visueller Ereignisse internationale Reputation genießt.

Ein Teil der Exponate besteht aus Dokumenten, die einen Eindruck davon entstehen lassen, wie neuartig und bahnbrechend es Anfang der 1970er Jahre war, eigene Instrumente aus Holz, Metall oder Stein zu entwickeln, diese auch für die Allgemeinheit zugänglich zu machen und mit den gängigen Regeln des Musikbetriebs zu brechen. Limpe Fuchs gründete zusammen mit dem Bildhauer Paul Fuchs die Gruppe Anima, die sich in der deutschen Musikszene schnell einen Namen machte und medial einiges Aufsehen erregte. Welche Bedeutung gerade die experimentellen Ansätze und die Grenzen der Gattungen sprengende Kunstauffassungen für die kulturelle Entwicklung hatten, lässt sich am Werdegang von Limpe Fuchs gut nachvollziehen. Performance-Requisiten sowie eine Hörstation mit ausgewählten Konzertmitschnitten und ein Videoraum mit alten und neuen Filmdokumenten erweitern die Ausstellung zu einem multi-medialen Ereignis.

Im Rahmenprogramm sind ein Konzert mit Limpe Fuchs am 16.9.2017 im Brunnenhof und Workshops für Kinder und Erwachsene vorgesehen.“ (Infotext zur Ausstellung aus dem Programm der Städtischen Galerie Traunstein)

Zur Ausstellung wird ein Katalog erhältlich sein, der neben graphic scores und Texten von und über Limpe auch eine CD mit bisher unveröffentlichter Musik aus den Jahren 1981-2017 enthält.



About Limpe Fuchs
Limpe Fuchs is a legend in the experimental music scene. In the late sixties, this percussionist drummed on self-made instruments, together with her then husband Paul Fuchs, in the Ensemble Anima. During that time, Limpe and Paul Fuchs cooperated with the classic pianist star Friedrich Gulda, as well as with jazz luminaries like Albert Mangelsdorff, and continually attracted the interest of their audiences in new constellations. Limpe Fuchs' solo performance with "variable wood and stone rows, ringing bronze in the pendulum strings, and a variety of skin and bronze drums" is a rare occasion to witness one of the early avant-gardists of the scene from the old Federal Republic Of Germany. She attempts, while playing live, to develop her musical ideas from the "resonance of the location where the performance takes place" - "to make music in the flow of time, with simplicity and emotion"! Her main concern is to sensitize the process of hearing: "Every tone is a sensation. Listening instead of shutting one's ears. Establishing silence."
