GABI DELGADO - MARC HURTADO « NEUE WELTUMFASSENDE RESISTANCE »
Gabi Delgado (DAF, DELKOM, DAF DOS) and Marc Hurtado (ÉTANT DONNÉS, SOL IXENT) founded the project Neue Weltumfassende Resistance in 2004. Between then and 2018, they recorded numerous works together and performed twice—once at the IDEAL Festival in Nantes and again at LUFF in Lausanne in 2006.
The essence of NWR lies in the exchange of music and poetry between Delgado and Hurtado, conceived as a dialogue transmitted via electronic media between Germany, Spain, and France. Their collaboration unfolds as a kind of 360° cinematic voyage—fast as light, steeped in grace, madness, fire, and the kaleidoscopic whirlwind that emerges when two burning artistic souls collide.
Sometimes one provides the music, the other the voice; sometimes the roles reverse—or happen simultaneously. There is no fixed structure, no predetermined plan—only a relentless drive for absolute creative freedom, a movement of cosmic and poetic resistance.
They reunited in Berlin in 2007, and again in Córdoba in 2014 and 2018, to merge and refine their collaborative work—each encounter a pivotal moment in the construction of a sonic edifice whose stones had been cut and polished over years, like genuine diamonds.
Gabi Delgado left us far too soon in 2020. But now, over two decades since the inception of their project, the first album—Neue Weltumfassende Resistance—finally emerges. It stands as the first testament to the golden alliance between Gabi Delgado and Marc Hurtado, and the beginning of their shared fight for artistic and spiritual freedom.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Gabi Delgado was a Spanish-born German composer, lyricist, and producer. He grew up in Córdoba (Spain). His family moved to Germany when he was 8 years old ("My father had to leave Spain under Franco"), where they lived in Remscheid, Wuppertal, Dortmund and Düsseldorf. He was best known as the singer and co-founder—alongside Robert Görl in 1978—of the pioneering German electronic band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF), with whom he released seven albums. In 1990, he formed the band Delkom with Saba Komossa, and in 1995, he launched DAF/DOS with Wotan Wilke. Delgado also released four solo albums throughout his career. He passed away in 2020.
