Performed and recorded live at TRIXX Studio in Berlin with virtuoso Johannes Roloff on grand piano and master guitarist Gary Schmalzl, and enhanced by extravagant sonic touches from FM Einheit. Produced at Studio KATANA.
Together with her outstanding musicians, Mona Mur creates an elegiac, cinematic soundscape – as cruel as life, as tender as the night.

MONA MUR

Hamburg-born musician, composer, producer, and 80s protagonist MONA MUR is best known for her unique voice and intense concerts, amid guitar tempests and slowbeat-chic, as well as for her soundtracks for movies and games. Recognized by international press such as the New Musical Express London immediately after her first release Jeszcze Polska, her music forms a category of its own, consisting of punk and poetry, rock ’n’ roll, signature electronics, and orchestral walls of sound. Collaborators include FM Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten fame; Jean- Jacques Burnel and Dave Greenfield (The Stranglers); En Esch (KMFDM), with whom she toured worldwide; Polish rock star Grzegorz Ciechowski, and many more. The multi-instrumentalist and skilled producer creates her albums and soundtracks for computer games (Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Ballance) and films (Last Exit: Space by Rudolf Herzog, Genderation by Monika Treut) at her own Studio KATANA in Berlin. Paying homage to her work is the recent documentary film Mona Mur in Conversation by director Dietmar Post.

JOHANNES ROLOFF

Johannes Roloff started playing the piano at the age of seven. In January 1989, he made his solo debut in the Berlin Philharmonie’s Chamber Music Hall, performing works by Bach, Berg, Weber, and Prokofiev. Concert tours took him to Japan, Canada, Brasil, and the Canary Islands. He subsequently gained recognition as the musical director and arranger for the come- dy trio Geschwister Pfister, with whom he has collaborated since 1991.

GARY SCHMALZL

Gary Schmalzl is a German guitarist known for his virtuosic, versatile playing and for colla- borations with artists such as Meret Becker, Bela B., Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Sunn, Ben Becker, and many others. Schmalzl has also performed New Music works by Giordano Nasci- mento, Sergei Prokofiev, Alvin Lucier, and Grant Stevens.
